Happy Fri-YAY everyone! I hope you had a great first week of June! Nearly half of 2018 has practically flown by and I seriously can’t (or perhaps am refusing to) wrap my head around that…Anyone else feel me?<\/p>\n

This week for me was busy with celebrations. Tuesday I reunited with an old friend over a delicious vegan brunch at Healthy Junk<\/span><\/a> (Anaheim, CA). Wednesday was my baby cousin’s 8th grade graduation\u00a0and<\/i> my dad’s birthday. Last night I reunited with some more college friends over sushi at\u00a0Kaori Sushi<\/span><\/a> (Fullerton, CA). And then<\/i> today is my best friend’s college graduation.<\/p>\n

WOW! Nearly every day of this week is dedicated to somebody that I love. Celebrating the people I love most is one of my favorite things to do. And I got to do that every day of this week! My heart (not to mention belly \ud83d\ude09 ) is definitely full and happy.\u00a0\u2661<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Now on to this pretty little thang-the neck scarf!<\/p>\n

The term \u201cneck scarf\u201d sounds redundant, doesn\u2019t it? The more I thought about it I started to I ask myself, \u201cWhat’s more to know about scarves? Aren’t they all<\/em> neck scarves since you wear them there?” Turns out, there are many different kinds of scarves and terms for each of them. Whether they differ by material, function or design, scarves have been utilized throughout history in different ways by various cultures across the globe.<\/p>\n

Scarves have been used by the ancient Egyptians as a symbol of royalty; by the Chinese armies to denote military rank; and by the ancient Romans to wipe away sweat. In the late 1600’s, the Parisians brought the scarf to a more fashionable light in the form of the cravat. The most popular version of the accessory today is the silk scarf crafted in 1937 by the one and only fashion legend, Thierry Herm\u00e8s. Scarves have been around for centuries and I’m so glad they’ve stuck around to this day!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Scarves uniquely add a punch of personality to any look.\u00a0It\u2019s so simple yet incredibly impactful! It\u2019s a nearly fool-proof way to elevate your outfit from ordinary to chic. Just tie it around your neck (I tie it twice but loosely so it remains comfortable) and you are good to go!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The Parisian vibe of this particular scarf from the Asian brand 6ixty8ight<\/a> made me gravitate towards a more straightforward color scheme and brassy accessories (Click here<\/a> to read more about my travels!). The black bodysuit from Windsor<\/a> is the perfect medium for both the neck scarf and wide leg pant<\/a> to coexist. It breaks up the blue in the scarf and the pant, letting each piece shine individually. The black color reintegrates into the look within the strappy sandal heels<\/a>, which pulls the whole look together. Scarves inherently hold a certain character, so play along with that style for the rest of your outfit. For example, if you’re styling a western handkerchief square scarf, play around with some metal-tipped belts and black boots.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Another way to style scarves is as a hair accessory! Use an elastic hair band to tie your hair up and then tie the scarf around the band. It’s that<\/em> simple and easy! This is a little more casual and whimsical than the previous style, but it’s fashionable and fun nonetheless.<\/div>\n
