HARBOR LOOK

When I think about some of my favorite childhood memories, many of them are centered around the beach. We would have family crab boils where bunches of crab, shrimp, corn and sausage were boiled in Old Bay seasoning, then thrown onto a newspaper-lined table to be devoured by our bare hands-with crab mallets at the ready, of course. So yummy and fun!

We spent weekends looking for starfish in tide pools, and listened to the sound of seagulls in the air. I remember the first thing I noticed when I came home for my freshman winter break in college was the smell of the ocean breeze…so clearly I am a coastal gal at heart!

Especially during the spring and summer, it is the time to play around with the nautical theme. I love how elegant the top makes the look by showing off the décolletage (or collar bone) area. Off the shoulder tops like this white one from Brandy Melville are a great way to make your look instantly feminine and delicate.

Navy and white are the classic nautical colors, so I paid homage to the theme in the form of these amazing navy pants from Uniqlo.

These are some of the comfiest pair of pants I own. They sit a little high-waisted so it synchs your waistline in, and flare into a light and airy pant at the bottom. I love wearing it to the pier, or as a business pant when I’m in meetings. It’s super versatile and easily transforms a simple outfit into a trendy and polished look.

I am obsessed with these metallic block heel sandals from Abound, which I picked up at Nordstrom Rack. (Click here and here to see more looks with these babies!) They immediately add a cool edgy vibe to the look, which I like incorporating into all my outfits.

Adding a necklace would mean I lose the point of the exposed décolletage, so I went with my trusty white and gold drop earrings as my accessory. (Click here to see another look with these cuties!) Having a simple but “fancy” earring can really elevate your look from basic to bangin’. 😉

Finishing off the look is a matte red lip that really brings the nautical, almost Americana theme to life. I layered the Maybelline Super Stay Matte Ink and Jefree Star Lip Velour together and think it really pulls the whole look together with that pop of red.
