Hello, beautiful!

I hope you had a fabulous weekend! This weekend I was feeling some major summer vibes (even though it’s technically not until the 21st). The smell of barbecues and open fire, that biting summer heat, the refreshing cool drinks…I am allll about it!

Summer is a very eventful season for me personally as well. My dad’s birthday was last week (Click here to check out last week’s post about more fun celebrations!), my boyfriend and I’s 4th anniversary is this month, my birthday is next month, my mom’s birthday is the 1st of August, and then the church summer camp that my boyfriend and I coordinate is the first weekend of August. PHEW!

(Fun Fact: My birthday is July 11th but I’ve never gotten a free slurpee on that actual day. Maybe I should go this year and ask them if I can go crazy since it’s free slurpee day plus my birthday? Haha!)

Speaking of summer, the warmer months invite us all to wear fresh and light looks to complement the jubilant season. Living by the coast however, means that the marine layer, aka June gloom, is a real thing and has to be accounted for. These BDG kick-flare jeans keep me warm enough in the day, but the tank lets me be cooler up top. This Zara top was a find from Buffalo Exchange, which is a clothing store where you can buy and sell quality vintage items. (Click here, here and here to check out more looks with items from Buffalo Exchange!) I love the light color palette of the look and how the metallic top complements the light denim pants. If you’re in a colder environment like my home can be at times, you can add a blazer to wear to work (options: here, here, here), trench coat for an elegant vibe (options: here, here), or a moto jacket for an edgier feel (option: here).

This purse is also everything! I love styling it because it makes any outfit instantly chic. It’s a Salvatore Ferragamo that my mom used to wear all the time, and now I rock this baby out (thanks, mom)! Vintage items like this that are passed down from a loved one like a mother, aunt or grandmother are special because not only are they stylish and functional, but you get to take a piece of that person with you wherever you go. I guess that’s the fun (and at times, frustrating) thing about a mother-daughter relationship: going in and out of each other’s closets and wearing the same pieces, figuring out where “that one shirt” went, but also getting to wear items you wouldn’t normally have worn! (Click here if you want to check out another office-style look with this purse.)

The accessories are few but just the right ones. If you’ve been following the blog (& if you have, please let me know so I can send you some love!!!), you probably know now that I don’t like over-accessorizing just for the sake of doing it. Especially since I’m petite, less is more! I chose to wear some crystal statement earrings to give me more of a glam moment, but left everything else subdued with my every day fleur-de-lis ring from Florence (Click here to read about my time in Italy!) and my gold Alex and Ani bracelet.

To stay neutral, I chose my good ‘ole Steve Madden Fame heels. They are the easiest shoe to just slap on and go! The heel is low so my feet aren’t dying, and the beautiful patent nude leather makes the look elegant and pulled together. (Click here, herehere and here for more looks with these bad boys!)
