STAGECOACH & COUNTRY MUSIC

STAGECOACH & COUNTRY MUSIC

Stagecoach 2025 was one for the books! This was my second year RVing with friends, and I’m officially calling it - this is absolutely becoming an annual tradition. There’s just something about spending a weekend in the desert with amazing friends, great food, comfy lodging, and live music that makes everything feel electric.

We’ve got another trip coming up soon—a visit to a lavender farm in a few days—so stay tuned for that. But first, I wanted to take a moment to talk about something that really hit me this year: my reconnection with country music.

Growing up, country music was the soundtrack of my childhood. I was raised on the voices of Martina McBride, Trisha Yearwood, Faith Hill, LeAnn Rimes, and of course, my all-time favorite—Carrie Underwood. One of my most cherished memories is of my little washed-out yellow cowboy boots. They were distressed, broken-in, and felt like they matched every outfit. I wore them with shorts, dresses, you name it. I remember feeling so cute and grown-up in them and was crushed when I finally outgrew them. As someone who finds joy in spring cleaning, I weirdly wish I had kept them—they’re one of those sentimental pieces I still think about.

Over the years, especially during the era of bro-country dominance, I drifted away from the genre. I even considered myself a bit of a country music hater for a while. But in college, I realized the things I love most about music—storytelling, harmonies, instrumentation—have always lived within country music. Its roots in rock, bluegrass, folk, and even jazz hit all the right notes for me (pun intended). Country music isn’t afraid to talk about real life—love, heartbreak, hard work, family, redemption. It’s grounding and emotional and beautifully honest.

One of my favorite things in the world is live music. That synergy, that camaraderie—it takes talent and passion to perform in harmony with others. My husband and I used to play music together for years, so every time I’m at a show, it takes me back to those days. There’s nothing like that rush.

This year at Stagecoach, I crossed off a major bucket list item: seeing Brothers Osborne live. They were incredible! Carly Pearce and Luke Combs were also unforgettable—two artists I constantly blast on my long commutes to and from wedding days. And I rediscovered Ashley McBryde this year! Her songs have officially earned a spot in my playlist rotation.

Also, can we talk about how RVing is the way to do Stagecoach? This year, we leveled up with electric scooters and bikes and they were a game changer. Getting around the campgrounds and festival grounds was SO much easier and way more fun (even if I might have fallen off one time).

But above all, the best part of the weekend wasn’t just the music or outfits. It was spending time with friends who, over the years, have become family. Until next year, Stagecoach! 🤠💛
